奇想录小专题:超高速摄像技术(视频和组图)

forcode:2006年我在《抽水马桶的秘密》中以为我所幻想的300万帧速的摄像机已经非常非常超前了,也许几百年内无法实现,实在没有想到,现在已经能够制造出100万帧速的超高速摄像机了,在这样的新工具下,可以看到原来看不到的神奇现象:拳击手的脸被对手击中的瞬间,肉眼看来似乎什么也没改变,只是撞击了一下,但是在1万帧速的摄像机下,我们可以看到被击中的拳击手的脸出现了严重变形,然后又迅速恢复,看完这个视频,你会感到,拳击对身体的伤害超乎我们原来的想象。拍下这段录像的机器是redlake公司能够生产帧速高达44,000 frames-per-second的摄像机,而日本shimadzu公司能够生产每秒100万帧图像的超高速摄像机。新工具往往是科学重大突破的前提,显微镜的发明导致细胞生物学的创立,不知道这样的超高速摄像技术会导致多少新学科的出现,可以想到的是,我们对于超高速运动物体运动特性的了解会快速改进。

日本开发出超高速摄像机

    日本岛津制作所与近畿大学理工学系教授江藤刚志合作开发出了超高速摄像机"HPV-1",能够以每秒100万帧图像的超高速拍摄。

    "HPV-1"摄像机实现高速化的关键,是采用了新型CCD(电荷耦合元件)。

    传统的CCD因为每拍摄一帧图像就要将数据输出到其外部,因此很难实现高速化。

    江藤教授开发的新型CCD,内设图像内存,在摄像过程中将图像数据储存在内存里,摄像结束以后才将图像数据输出到外部,因此即使以每秒100万帧的速度拍摄,也能保持8.1万像素的清晰度,从而使图像的详细解析成为可能。(蓝建中)

Abstract;We have developed the "HyperVision HPV-1" high-speed video camera, which is equipped with a single-chip CCD image sensor called IS-CCD (image storage-CCD). The IS-CCD, specifically developed for the video camera, enables it to capture 100 consecutive images with a frame rate of up to 1,000,000 frames per second (fps). The video camera ensures a spatial resolution of about 81,000 pixels at the overall range of the frame rate for high-quality image. The camera allows the users to visualize ultrafast phenomena that cannot be seen with conventional high-speed video cameras. (author abst.)

Shimadzu Corporation's High-Speed Video Camera HyperVision HPV-1 offers world-class ultra-high-speed video recording of up to one million frames per second.
The HPV-1 permits recording of ultra-high-speed phenomena not previously possible in a wide variety of fields that require high-speed image capture, such as materials failure, fluid dynamics, combustion, and sports science.

1. Ultra-high-speed recording of up to one million frames per second.

This newly developed IS-CCD*1 achieves ultra-fast recording speeds of up to one million fps.
*1 The IS-CCD is Shimadzu's unique CCD with image storage incorporated into the sensor chip to permit high-speed image recording.
* Patent pending.
This product's IS-CCD image sensor was jointly developed in collaboration with Kinki University's Professor Takeharu Etoh.

2. Ultra-high-speed and high spatial resolution

With a conventional high-speed video camera, the spatial resolution drops off as the recording speed is increased. However, the HPV-1 spatial resolution does not deteriorate at high frame rates. It maintains excellent 312 x 260-pixel resolution at all recording speeds to permit detailed analysis of high-speed phenomena.

3. HPV-1 can capture a wide range of high-speed phenomena with the high sensitivity CCD.

A highly sensitive image sensor is essential to capture ultra-high-speed images using extremely short exposure times. The IS-CCD incorporates a high-sensitivity design that expands the light sensitive area per pixel to handle recording of a variety of high-speed phenomena.

4. Easy-to-use, multifunction software

Dedicated software in the control unit allows recording to start immediately after performing a few simple settings. Recorded images can be saved in general image formats such as AVI or BMP.

The Center carries on the legacy of Doc Edgerton's research and teaching by providing the Institute with a continuing expertise in high-speed and scientific imaging. Our facilities include a large studio space, a photographic darkroom, and a digital imaging studio equipped with an array of scanners, digital cameras, printers and plotters, and Macintosh computers.

In addition, we several technical digital cameras, including:

These systems are available for use by interested MIT researchers and instructors, and by students pursuing hands-on projects.

Each summer we offer a week-long course on high-speed imaging through the MIT Professional Institute. This subject (6.51s) is designed for scientists, engineers, and photographers who need to gather data on rapidly moving subjects and events for study, motion analysis, and trouble-shooting. Mornings are spent in the lecture hall learning the fundamentals for lighting, imaging technologies, and motion analysis. Afternoons are spent making high-speed images in the laboratory.

For MIT students, we offer the popular Strobe Project Lab (6.163) to 24 students each term, where students learn the fundamentals of high-speed imaging and apply these techniques to final projects of their own choosing. Two subjects are offered that investigate digital imaging and image manipulation, SP.757 in Fall terms, and SP.747 in Spring terms.

Redlake MASD Ektapro High Speed Video:

The Edgerton Center has a Redlake MASD Ektapro Model 1012 High Speed Video System on loan from Redlake MASD Inc. This system is capable of recording 256 gray scale black and white digital image data at 1000 frames per second, with a resolution of 192x239 pixels. By shrinking the image height the system can go up to 12,000 frames per second. (More up-to-date models can record even faster than this.)

The Edgerton Center uses the system in a variety of ways:

*as a teaching tool in the Strobe Project Laboratory course (6.163). Students work with the system on planned laboratory exercises and may use it as needed in their independent projects.

*as an exciting demonstration of high-speed imaging capabilities for visiting students, parents, and visitors of all ages.

*as a resource for laboratories around MIT, in order to introduce them to the capabilities of high speed video acquisition and its potential application in their research.
