Paint.NET is image and photo manipulation software designed to be used on computers that run Windows. It supports layers, unlimited undo, special effects, and a wide variety of useful and powerful tools. It started development as an undergraduate college senior design project mentored by Microsoft, and is currently being maintained by some of the alumni that originally worked on it. Originally intended as a free replacement for the MS Paint software that comes with Windows, it has grown into a powerful yet simple tool for photo and image editing. The programming language used to create Paint.NET is C#, with a small amount of C++ for installation and shell-integration related functionality.

• Fixed: When cancelling the multi-image Unsaved Changes dialog, the input focus was sometimes confused
• Changed: Renamed PdnLib.dll to PaintDotNet.Core.dll
• Fixed: Very rare race condition in background thumbnail renderer

PaintDotNet is quite useful for me as it does some things in a fraction of the time that they could be done in Photoshop. They complement each other in a way that makes my day much simpler. Thanks people.

" ----------------------------------------- I like MsPaint, I'm not a n00bie but for some silly jobs like copy-pasting screenshots, bitmap-2-jpeg etc, msPaint is great. i know it's not paintshop, gimp or photoshop but... --------------------- i don't understand why microsoft doesn't include this fine piece of software in windows by default Programs MsPaint & Notepad are good but they have been the same since windows 95 ----------------------------- Paint .NET is great and FREE! 5 out of 5. thnx -----------------------------

v3.0 no longer supports Windows 2000. A bit sad, since Win2k suffers from MSpaint as well, but nothing we can do about that. Found the last version to support Win2k: http://tinyurl.com/2opk6n Would be nice if betanews mirrored it, for people with Win2k.
