They set unmatched standards for close, two-part harmonies and infused early rock & roll with some of the best elements of country and pop music. Their legacy was and is felt enormously in all rock acts that employ harmonies as prime features, from the Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel, and legions of country-rockers to modern-day roots rockers like Dave Edmunds and Nick Lowe (who once recorded an EP of Everlys songs together). 2、 ALL I HAVE TO DO IS DREAM:在本句型中凡以ALL ONE HAS TO DO,ALL ONE DOES,WHAT ONE HAS TO DO ,WHAT ONE DOES 等做主语,其后接BE动词,再接不定式短语做补语时,TO 通常被省略。 EX:TO BE A MOVIE STAR,ONE MUST HAVE CHARM。 HE WAS CHARMED BY HER BEAUTY。 4、 WHEN I FEEL BLUE IN THE NIGHT,AND I NEED YOU TO HOLD ME (a) (b) TIGHT,WHENEVER I WANT YOU,ALL I HAVE TO DO IS DREAM, (c) (d) a,b,c为WHEN和WHENEVER 引导的状语从句,d为主语,被a,b,c状语从句修饰。 5、 BLUE(a)忧郁的 EX: THAT OLD HOUSE MAKES ME FEEL BLUE。 IN THE NIGHT=AT NIGHT 用介词IN时,一定要加定冠词THE ,而用AT时则不必。 AT EVENING。 THE EVERLY BROTHERS照片: 2、 ARE YOU LONESOME TONIGHT by Elvis Presley Are you lonesome tonight?Do you miss me tonight? Are you sorry we drift apart?Does your memory stray to a bright summer day when I kiss you and called you sweetheart?Do the chairs in you parlor seem empty and bare?Do you gaze at your doorstep and picture me there? Is your heart feel was pained? Shall I come back again?Tell me,dear, are you lonesome tonight? I wonder if you're lonesome tonight. You know someone said that the world's a stage and we each must play a part.Fate had me playing in love with you as my sweetheart.ActOne was when we met.I loved you at first glance. And you read your lines so cleverly and never missed a cue. Then came Act Tow.You seemed to change, you acted strange, and why I've never known.Honey, you lied when you said you loved me ,and I had no cause to doubt you .But I'd rather go on hearing your lies than go on living without you .Now the stage is bare and I'm standing there with emptiness all around. And if you won't come back to me ,then they can bring the curtain down. 1、Elvis Presley may be the single most important figure in American 20th century popular music. Not necessarily the best, and certainly not the most consistent. But no one could argue with the fact that he was the musician most responsible for popularizing rock & roll on an international level. Viewed in cold sales figures, his impact was phenomenal. Dozens upon dozens of international smashes from the mid-'50s to the mid-'70s, as well as the steady sales of his catalog and reissues since his death in 1977, may make him the single highest-selling performer in history. 2、Are you sorry we drift apart?=Are you sorry that we have broken up? Drift apart 流开,疏远 3、G.I.BLUES Elvis Presley 主演的一部电影G.I. 4、Does your memory stray to a bright summer day when I kiss you and called you sweetheart?=Do you occasionally think of that special day when I kissed you and called you sweetheart? If few recognize that distinction, then it's because the Brothers Four were also part of a largely forgotten chapter in the history of folk music in America. 4. Rock and roll had taken over by 1960, though, so he made a niche for himself as one of the Brill Building's most pop-oriented writers. Unlike most of the Brill Building heavyweights, he sang most of his hit records (which were composed in association with Howard Greenfield). And he had a lot of them in the late '50s and early '60s: "Oh Carol," "The Diary," "Stairway to Heaven," "Calendar Girl," "Next Door to an Angel," and "Happy Birthday, Sweet Sixteen." "Breaking Up Is Hard to Do," a number one hit in 1962, was probably his best-known tune.

California dreaming On such a winter's day Stopped into a church I passed along the way Well, I got down on my knees And I pretend to pray You know the preacher likes the cold He knows I'm gonna stay All the leaves are brown And the sky is grey I've been for a walk On a winter's day If I didn't tell her I could leave today 1、 The leading California-based vocal group of the '60s, the Mamas & the Papas epitomized the ethos of mid- to late-'60s pop culture: live free, play free, and love free. Their music, built around radiant harmonies and a solid electric-folk foundation, was gorgeous on its own terms, but a major part of its appeal lay in the easygoing Southern California lifestyle it endorsed. 2、All the leaves are brown,And the sky is grey =It's lates autumn, and all the leaves are turning brown, and the sky is gray;winter is around the corner. around the corner:在附近,正在迫近中(=be near at hand,be fast approaching) 3、I'd be safe and warm,If I was in L.A. If I was in L.A.
6.Can't Take My Eyes Off You Frankie Valli And The Four Seasons You're just too good to be true. Can't take my eyes off you. You'd be like heaven to touch. I wanna hold you so much. At long last love has arrived. And I thank God I'm alive. You're just too good to be true. Can't take my eyes off you.
Pardon the way that I stare. There's nothing else to compare. The sight of you leaves me weak. There are no words left to speak. But if you feel like I feel. Please let me know that it's real. You're just too good to be true. Can't take my eyes off you.
I love you baby, and if it's quite all right, I need you baby to warm the lonely night. I love you baby. Trust in me when I say: Oh pretty baby, don't bring me down, I pray. Oh pretty baby, now that I found you. Stay.
And let me love you, baby. Let me love you ...
I love you baby, and if it's quite allright, I need you baby to warm the lonely night. I love you baby. Trust in me when I say: Oh pretty baby, don't bring me down, I pray. Oh pretty baby, now that I found you. Stay. Oh pretty baby. Trust in me when I say: Oh pretty baby ... 1、 Frankie Valli, the lead singer of the Four Seasons, launched a solo career in 1965 after several years of chart-topping success, while still continuing with the group which was re-billed as "Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons." He had actually begun as a solo, releasing the 1953 single "My Mother's Eyes" under the name Frankie Valley. His debut solo single was "(You're Gonna) Hurt Yourself" at the end of 1965, but his first solo success came with the gold-selling "Can't Take My Eyes Off You" (June 1967), which appeared on his first solo album, Frankie Valli—Solo (July 1967). This was followed by Timeless (1968). Valli discontinued solo work for half a dozen years, concentrating on the group. But he returned to solo recordings in the mid-'70s. His subsequent solo hits included the number one "My Eyes Adored You" (November 1974), "Swearin' to God" (May 1975), "Our Day Will Come" (October 1975), and the number one "Grease" (May 1978). 2、Can't take my eyes off you =you beauty attracts me so much that i find it very hard not to fix my eyes on you. fix one's eyes on somebody:眼睛盯着某人看 3、I wanna hold you so much.=i'm eager to hug you. hug(n&vi):拥抱 4、 in terns of 以。。。。 。。方面 There is no other girl that can compare with you in terms of beauty.(就美貌而言,没有什么其他女孩子能与你相比) 5、now that:既然 8.Dear Heart Artist: Andy Williams (peak Billboard position # 24 in 1964) Music by Henry Mancini and Words by Jay Livingston and Ray Evans titles song from the movie starring Glenn Ford and Geraldine Page Dear heart wish you were here to warm this night My dear heart, seems like a year since you've been out of my sight A single room, a table for one It's a lonesome town all right But soon I'll kiss you hello at our front door And dear heart I want you to know I'll leave your arms never more (A single room, a table for one) It's a lonesome town all right But soon I'll kiss you hello at our front door And dear heart I want you to know I'll leave your arms never more 1、
Easily the most solid and long-lasting vocalist of his era, Andy Williams' laidback delivery and expansive voice charmed audiences for decades, from his first appearance with a brother quartet into his seventh decade of performance as the head of his own dinner theater in Branson, Missouri. Born in Wall Lake, Iowa, Williams sang in his church choir and later formed a quartet with his three brothers. The group performed on radio throughout the Midwest, then moved to Los Angeles to make it in show business. The Williams Brothers Quartet appeared on Bing Crosby's 1944 hit "Swinging on a Star," and appeared with comedienne Kay Thompson during the late '40s.
10.El condor pasa Simon & Garfunkel Music & Lyrics : Paul Simon - Jorge Milchberg - Daniel A. Robles I'd rather be a sparrow than a snail Yes I would, if I could, I surely would I'd rather be a hammer than a nail Yes I would, if I only could, I surely would Away, I'd rather sail away Like a swan that's here and gone A man gets tied up to the ground He gives the world its saddest sound Its saddest sound I'd rather be a forest than a street Yes I would, if I could, I surely would I'd rather feel the earth beneath my feet Yes I would, if I only could, I surely would 1、 The most successful folk-rock duo of the 1960s, Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel crafted a series of memorable hit albums and singles featuring their choirboy harmonies, ringing acoustic, and electric guitars; and Simon's acute, finely wrought songwriting. The pair always inhabited the more polished end of the folk-rock spectrum, and were sometimes criticized for a certain collegiate sterility. Many also feel that Simon, as both a singer and songwriter, didn't truly blossom until he began his own hugely successful solo career in the 1970s. But the best of S&G's work can stand among Simon's best material, and the duo did progress musically over the course of their five albums, moving from basic folk-rock productions into Latin rhythms and gospel-influenced arrangements that foreshadowed Simon's eclecticism on his solo albums. 3、GET TIED UP TO=BE TIED UP TO 被... 13.I went to your wedding by patti page I went to your wedding
although I was dreading.
The thought of losing you,
the organ was playing, my poor heart kept saying, My dreams, my dreams are through. She came down the aisle, wearing a smile. A vision of loveliness, I uttered a sigh, whispered goodbye, goodbye to my happiness. Your mother was crying, your father was crying, I was crying too. The teardrops were falling because we were losing you. 1、 The best-selling female singer during the 1950s, Patti Page in many ways defined the decade of earnest, novelty-ridden adult pop with throwaway hits like "The Doggie in the Window" and "I Went to Your Wedding." By singing a wide range of popular material and her own share of novelty fluff, she proved easily susceptible to the fall of classic adult pop but remained a chart force into the mid-'60s. 2、WED:(vt)与。。。 EX:In this book ,matter and manner are well wedded.(这本书的内容与形式结合得很好) 3、DREAD(vt)害怕,恐惧 4、ORGAN:风琴,管风琴 5、BE THROUGH(WITH)结束,与。。。 14.I'll never fall in love again BY BOBBIE GENTRY What do you get When you fall in love A girl with a pin To burst your bubble That's what you get For all your trouble I'll never fall in love again What do you get When you kiss a guy You get enough germs To catch peneumonia After you do he'll never phone ya I'll never fall in love again Don't tell me what it's all about I've been there And I'm glad I'm out Out of those chains Those chains that bind you That is why I'm here To remind you What do you get When you fall in love You only get lies and pain and sorrow So far at least until tomorrow I'll never fall in love again 1、Bobbie Gentry remains one of the most interesting and underappreciated artists to emerge out of Nashville during the late '60s. Best-known for her crossover smash "Ode to Billie Joe," she was one of the first female country artists to write and produce much of her own material, forging an idiosyncratic, pop-inspired sound that, in tandem with her glamorous, bombshell image, anticipated the rise of latter-day superstars like Shania Twain and Faith Hill. Of Portuguese descent, Gentry was born Roberta Streeter in Chickasaw County, MS, on July 27, 1944; her parents divorced shortly after her birth and she was raised in poverty on her grandparents' farm. After her grandmother traded one of the family's milk cows for a neighbor's piano, seven-year-old Bobbie composed her first song, "My Dog Sergeant Is a Good Dog," years later self-deprecatingly reprised in her nightclub act; at 13, she moved to Arcadia, CA, to live with her mother, soon beginning her performing career in local country clubs. The 1952 film Ruby Gentry lent the singer her stage surname.
2、A girl with a pinTo burst your bubble =A GUY WILL COME ALONG AND RAIN ON YOUR PARADE。 3、That's what you get For all your trouble =THAT'S THE KIND OF THING YOU GET FOR ALL YOUR EFFORTS。

Just walking in the rain, thinking how we met, knowing things could change, somehow I can*t forget. Just walking in the rain* 1、
Gentleman Jim Reeves was perhaps the biggest male star to emerge from the Nashville Sound. His mellow baritone voice and muted velvet orchestration combined to create a sound that echoed around his world and has lasted to this day. Detractors will call the sound country-pop (or plain pop), but none can argue against the large audience that loves this music. Reeves was capable of singing hard country ("Mexican Joe" went to number one in 1953), but he made his greatest impact as a country-pop crooner. From 1955 through 1969, Reeves was consistently charted in the country and pop charts — an amazing fact in light of his untimely death in an airplane accident in 1964. Not only was a presence in the American charts, but he became country music's foremost international ambassador and, if anything, he was even more popular in Europe and Britain than he was in his native America. After his death, his fanbase didn't diminish at all, and several of his posthumous hits actually outsold his earlier singles; no less than six number one singles arrived in the three years following his burial. In fact, during the '70s and '80s, he continued to have hits with both unreleased material and electronic duets like "Take Me in Your Arms and Hold Me" with Deborah Allen and "Have You Ever Been Lonely?" with his smooth-singing female counterpart of the plush Nashville Sound, Patsy Cline, who also perished in an airplane crash, in 1963. But Reeves' legacy remains with lush country-pop singles like "Four Walls" (1957) and "He'll Have To Go" (1959), which defined both his style and an entire era of country music. 2、torture(n.) 湿透地 a soaking downpour 倾盆大雨 get soaking wet 全身湿透 23、Morning Has Broken 破晓 -CAT STEVENS Morning has broken like the first morning. Blackbird has spoken like the first bird. Praise for the singing; praise for the morning; praise for them springing fresh from the world. Sweet the rains' new fall sunlit from heaven, like the first dewfall on the first grass. Praise for the sweetness of the wet garden, sprung in completeness where His feet pass. Mine is the sunlight. Mine is the morning. Born of the one light Eden saw play. Praise with elation, praise every morning God's re-creation of the new day.

After leaving the Commodores, Lionel Richie became one of the most successful male solo artists of the '80s, arguably eclipsed during his 1981-1987 heyday only by Michael Jackson and Prince. Richie dominated the pop charts during that period with an incredible run of 13 consecutive Top Ten hits, five of them number ones. As his popularity skyrocketed, Richie moved farther away from his R&B origins and concentrated more on adult contemporary balladry, which had been one of his strengths even as part of the Commodores. After 1987, Richie fell silent, taking an extended break from recording and touring before beginning a comeback toward the tail end of the '90s. Hello - Lionel Richie i've been alone with you inside my mind and in my dreams i've kissed your lips a thousand times i sometimes see you pass outside my door hello, is it me you're looking for? i can see it in your eyes i can see it in your smile you're all i've ever wanted,(and) my arms are open wide 'cause you know just what to say and you know just what to do and i want to tell you so much, i love you ... i long to see the sunlight in your hair and tell you time and time again how much i care sometimes i feel my heart will overflow hello, i've just got to let you know 'cause i wonder where you are and i wonder what you do are you somewhere feeling lonely, or is someone loving you? tell me how to win your heart for i haven't got a clue but let me start by saying, i love you ... hello, is it me you're looking for? She was not alone in this regard; Kitty Wells had become a star several years before Cline's big hits in the early '60s. Brenda Lee, who shared Cline's producer, did just as much to create a country-pop crossover during the same era; Skeeter Davis briefly enjoyed similar success. Cline has the most legendary aura of any female country singer, however, perhaps due to an early death that cut her off just after she had entered her prime. georgia gibbs:
3)I'd've Baked A Cake Georgia Gibbs原名Fredda Gibbons,1920年8月17日出生于麻省的Worcester。 1938年和Hudson-Delange乐队一起表演时的名曲有《If We Never Meet Again》,1940年和Frankie Trumbauer合作时的名曲有《Laziest Girl In Town》,1942年和Artie Shaw乐队合作时的名曲有《Not Mine》,《Absent Minded Moon》。 最开始的两支是Coral唱片公司发行的《If I Knew You Were Comin'》及《I'd've Baked A Cake》。 如:55年原来LaVerne Baker唱的《Tweedle Dee》,《Dance With Me Henry》是改动了歌词的原Hank Ballard的歌曲《Work With Me Annie》,以及Ballard,Johnny Otis,Etta James的性感歌曲《Roll With Me Henry》等。 后又在Mercury公司录了含有《Swinin' With Her Nibs》一曲的专辑。 2、ever since the time you told me we were through, seven lonely days i cried and i cried for you.=Ever since seven days ago when you told me that our relationship was over,i hve been feeling lonely and i've been crying and crying for losing you. be through=be over cry for +n. :为。。。 3、there's no use in denyin' i cried for you THERE'S NO USE+IN+现在分词=IT IS USELESS TO +动词原形 4、guess it never pays to make your lover blue IT PAYS TO...

Neil Diamond built a career, first as a pop songwriter, and then as a pop singer, that has withstood the changing fashions of music, especially rock, over more than 25 years. Born in Brooklyn, Diamond was writing and recording in New York in his teens, though he graduated from Brooklyn's Abraham Lincoln High School and attended New York University for a time. In 1965, he signed to Bang Records as an artist while also working as a songwriter. In 1966, he reached the Top Ten with his "Cherry, Cherry," while the Monkees took his "I'm a Believer" to #1. "Cherry, Cherry" was the first of five straight Top 20 hits, among them "Girl, You'll Be a Woman Soon." 2、Me and you are subject to the blues now and then. 。。 。。 BE SUBJECT TO +n. 39. Born John Henry Deutschendorf in Roswell, New Mexico on December 31, 1943, he was raised in an Air Force family, and grew up in various regions of the southwestern U.S. As a teen, his grandmother presented him with a 1910 Gibson acoustic guitar, and while attending Texas Tech University he began performing local clubs. Adopting the stage surname "Denver" in tribute to the Rocky Mountain area he so cherished, he dropped out of college in 1964 to relocate to Los Angeles; there he joined the Chad Mitchell Trio, a major draw on the hootenanny circuit of the early '60s but in the twilight of their career at the time of Denver's arrival. Over time, however, Denver helped resuscitate the group on the strength of his songwriting skills; signed to Mercury, the Trio recorded a number of tracks, which the label repackaged in 1974 as Beginnings with the Chad Mitchell Trio. 2、all my memories gather round her ,miners lady, stranger to blue water BE A STRANGER TO 对。。。不懂 BLUE WATER=BLUE OCEANS 3、RIMIND (OF)使...

4、 《THE RIVER OF NO RETURN》剧情简介:玛丽莲. 45.Tie A Yellow Ribbon Round The Old Oak Tree -tony orlando I'm coming home; I've done my time. Now I've got to know what is and isn't mine. If you received my letter telling you still want me, if you still want me. Tie a yellow ribbon 'round the old oak tree. It's been three long years. Do you still want me? If I don't see a ribbon 'round the old oak tree, I'll stay on the bus, forget about us, put the blame on me, if I don't see a yellow ribbon 'round the old oak tree. Bus driver, please look for me, 'cause I couldn't bear to see what I might see. I'm really still in prison, and my love she holds the key. A simple yellow ribbon's what I need to set me free. I wrote and told her please. Now the whole danm bus is cheering, and I can't believe I see a hundred yellow ribbons 'round the old oak tree. I'm coming home. 1、 In conjunction with his backing duo Dawn, singer Tony Orlando was one of the biggest pop stars of the early '70s, best remembered for the mammoth hit "Tie a Yellow Ribbon 'Round the Ole Oak Tree." Born Michael Anthony Orlando Cassavitis in New York City on April 3, 1944, he entered the music business at the age of 16 following a successful audition for producer Don Kirshner. Orlando's first hit, 1961's "Halfway to Paradise," was written for him by Carole King, who also authored the Top 20 follow-up, "Bless You." However, after scoring a minor chart entry with "Happy Times (Are Here to Stay)," his career ground to a halt when Kirshner sold his company to Screen Gems, which showed considerably more interest in publishing music than recording it; Orlando was given a job with the company's promotional department, and in 1967 he was tapped by Columbia Records to head their own publishing division, April-Blackwood Music. Tie yellow ribbon round the old oak tree,幸福是馨黄色的; Tie a yellow ribbon round the old oak tree,爱不在乎统治阶级,你是好人还是坏人,是顺民还是逆犯; Tie a hundred yellow ribbon round the old oak tree,如今的时代,有谁能够清白地活着! 3、PUT THE BLAME ON ME BLAME+事物+ON+人=BLAME+人+FOR+事物 将某事归咎于某人 46.Top of the world-carpenters such a feelin's comin' over me there is wonder in most everthing i see not a cloud in the sky got the sun in my eyes and i won't be surprised if it's a dream everything i want the world to be is now coming true especially for me and the reason is clear it's because you are here you're the nearest thing to heaven that i've seen i'm on the top of the world lookin' down on creation and the only explanation i can find is the love that i've found every since you've been around your love put me at the top of the world something in the wind has learned my name and it's tellin' me that things are not the same in the leaves on the trees and the touch of the breeze there's a pleasin' sense of happiness for me there is only one wish on my mind when this day is through i hope that i will find that tomorrow will be just the same for you and me all i need will be mine if you are here 1、 With their light, airy melodies and meticulously crafted, clean arrangements, the Carpenters stood in direct contrast with the excessive, gaudy pop/rock of the '70s; yet they became one of the most popular artists of the decade, scoring 12 Top Ten hits, including three number one singles. Karen Carpenter's calm, pretty voice was the most distinctive element of their music, settling in perfectly amidst the precise, lush arrangements provided by her brother Richard. The duo's sound drew more from pre-rock pop than rock & roll, but that didn't prevent the Carpenters from appealing to a variety of audiences, particularly Top 40, easy listening, and adult contemporary. While their popularity declined during the latter half of the '70s, they remained one of the most distinctive and recognizable acts of the decade produced |
